MARK GRAHAM MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL TRACK MEET

Mark Graham competed at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games as a member of the 4x400m relay. He went on to earn an athletic scholarship from the University of Nebraska and later attended Kent State University. He also represented Canada at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria. After retiring from athletics, Graham enlisted in the Canadian Forces and was based at CFB Petawawa. While serving as Private with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment, he was killed by “friendly fire” when his platoon was mistakenly attacked by an American aircraft on September 4, 2006. He was posthumously awarded the Sacrifice Medal. Graham is buried at the National Military Cemetery in Ottawa. In 2010, a park in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario was renamed Mark Anthony Graham Memorial Olympic Park.

The Mark Graham Memorial meet is a great way to get student athletes an opportunity to try new events and to get an official time/measurement leading into championships. We are looking forward to working with you to make it a great day.

ENTRY FEE: $10.00 Per Athlete

• Please bring entry fee cheques to the meet. Receipts will be available at the registration desk.

• Cheques payable to: Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School 145 Magnolia Drive, Hamilton ON, L9C 5P4

• Entry deadline: April 30th , 2024 • The Meet will be limited to 35 schools on a first come basis. Priority will be given to Hamilton schools.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

REGISTRATION: Please pre-register athletes for the hurdles, 100s and the 1500s. Seed times required for the 1500s. Relays and field events will be assigned lanes at the start line, no need to pre-register, however you do need to list the athletes name so they get a bib number.

SENIOR BOYS AND GIRLS 400-METER INVITATIONAL
Please forward names and seed times for this special event to the meet directors. The committee will select the top 8 entries and inform schools the week of the meet.
